Privacy Policy

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the FaceCheck iOS application published by Nicolas Gula ("we", "us"), and to this website at dezeo.lat/facecheck.

It does not cover the App Store itself. Your download, purchase and payment are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, and we never receive your payment details.

2. Photos: what happens to them

When you take a photo with the camera or select one through the system photo picker, FaceCheck analyzes it using Apple's on-device Vision framework: it detects the face, measures 76 facial landmarks, and derives symmetry, proportion, angle and expression values.

• Your photo is never uploaded. The application contains no networking code whatsoever, so it is not technically capable of transmitting your image.
• Your photo is never written to storage by the app. The image and its analysis exist only in the app's working memory while you are viewing the result, and are discarded when you analyze another photo or close the app.
• The app has no server, no database and no cloud storage. There is no backend, so there is no copy of anything anywhere.
• It works in airplane mode. This is the practical proof of everything above.

Because the app never receives or retains your photo, we cannot access, disclose, sell, share or be compelled to produce it.

3. Data we collect

None. FaceCheck collects no personal information, no biometric identifiers, no usage data, no device identifiers, no crash reports and no advertising identifiers. It contains no analytics or telemetry of any kind.

This corresponds to the "Data Not Collected" declaration on the app's App Store privacy label.

4. What the app stores on your device

Everything in this section stays on your phone. None of it is transmitted, and there is no server it could be transmitted to.

Your reading history

Each time you analyze a photo, FaceCheck saves the result so you can look back at it. One entry holds:

• A square thumbnail of the photo, 200 by 200 pixels, saved as a compressed JPEG of roughly 10 KB. The full-size photo is never saved.
• The numeric result: the date, your score and its range, and your percentile.
• The expression and strongest feature that were detected, stored as internal identifiers rather than words, so an old entry reads correctly whichever language you later set.
• The headline of your reading, stored as the text it was written as. On devices with Apple Intelligence this line was generated on your device; it is saved exactly as it appeared to you.

The history is capped at 100 readings; past that, the oldest entry is deleted automatically. It is stored in the app's private Application Support folder and is flagged to be excluded from iCloud and iTunes backups, so it does not travel to Apple's servers or to your other devices.

You can delete a single reading by swiping it away, or erase the whole history with one control. Deleting a reading also deletes its thumbnail from disk.

Three preferences

FaceCheck also saves three settings in the standard iOS preferences store, so the app behaves the way you left it. None identify you:

• Your chosen interface language, if you set one in Settings.
• Whether you have seen the introduction, so it is not shown again.
• The purpose you selected for your photo (for example "work profile" or "social media"), which changes which tips the app shows you.

Deleting the app removes everything described in this section, immediately and permanently.

5. Permissions the app requests

• Camera. Requested only when you choose to take a photo, and used only to capture the image you are about to analyze on-device.
• Photo library. FaceCheck uses the system photo picker, which shares only the individual photos you explicitly select. The app is never granted access to your library as a whole and does not request that permission.

6. On-device intelligence

On devices that support Apple Intelligence, FaceCheck may use Apple's on-device language model to write your personalized reading. Only the numeric measurements already computed on your device (for example your score, angle and strongest feature) are passed to that model; your photo is not. This processing also happens on your device, under Apple's own privacy protections, and no prompt or output is sent to us. On devices without Apple Intelligence the app uses built-in text instead, with no change to anything else.

7. Purchases

The full analysis is unlocked by a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see or receive your name, payment method or Apple Account details. The app reads only whether an entitlement exists on your device in order to unlock the corresponding features, and the "Restore purchases" control asks Apple to re-synchronize that entitlement.

8. Sharing your result

If you tap "Share my result", FaceCheck generates a summary card image and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet. What happens next is entirely your choice and is governed by whichever app or service you select. Nothing is shared unless you initiate it.

9. Your rights and controls

Privacy laws including the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete, port and restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to its sale. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or delete, and nothing to sell.

Everything described in section 4 is under your sole control, on your own device. Your reading history can be erased entry by entry or all at once from inside the app, and deleting the app removes the history and the three preferences together.

10. Data retention

We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. No photo, measurement or result ever reaches us.

On your device, the full-size photo you analyze is held only in memory for the duration of that analysis and is never written to disk. The thumbnail and result described in section 4 persist on your phone until you delete that reading, clear the history, or delete the app — except that the history keeps only the most recent 100 readings and discards older ones on its own.

11. Children

FaceCheck is intended for users aged 13 and over. It collects no information from any user, including children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, note that no mechanism exists by which this could occur; you may nonetheless contact us at gulabonzinillc@gmail.com.

12. This website

This site is served as static files and sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds no third-party trackers. Your language preference is stored in your browser's local storage and never transmitted. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which keeps standard server access logs, including IP address and user agent, under GitHub's own privacy statement. We do not read, receive or have access to those logs.

13. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, this page will be updated before the change ships, and the effective date above will change with it. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
