A triple tile match game is a puzzle where you tap tiles on a board to send them into a small tray, and any three identical tiles in the tray disappear. The tray is the heart of any triple tile match game. It is a short row of slots next to the board (in Trip Sort it sits just above it), and it is the only place where matches happen. Its size changes from game to game. Think of the tray as a tiny desk. Every tile you put on it takes up space until it finds its two partners. If you pick up tiles that have no partners nearby, the desk fills with clutter and there is nowhere left for the tile you actually need. On a flat board every tile is free, so the game is just a search for matches. Real boards are rarely flat. Tiles sit on top of other tiles, sometimes several layers deep, and only the tiles that are not covered by anything can be picked. The first boards of a good tile match game are gentle on purpose.
