Privacy Policy
What the app stores, what reaches third parties, and the choices you have.
Summary
Word Search: Learning English has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your progress, coins, medals and settings live only on your device. We never receive them, and we cannot see who you are.
The app is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To serve and measure those ads, Google's advertising software inside the app receives some technical information from your device, described in section 5.
To fix crashes and make the app better, it sends us play statistics and crash reports through Google Firebase, tied to a random identifier rather than to you (section 3).
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your payment details.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Word Search: Learning English app for iOS and Android ("the app") and to this page at dezeo.lat/wordsearch. The app is published by Nicolas Gula, an independent developer based in Uruguay, under the dezeo name ("we", "us"). For the purposes of data protection law, we are the controller of any personal data processed through the app.
It does not cover the App Store or Google Play themselves. Your download, purchases and payments are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, or by Google under Google's Privacy Policy.
2. The short version
- We never learn who you are. There is no sign-in, no account and no database of ours.
- What reaches us is play statistics and crash reports through Google Firebase, linked only to a random identifier (section 3).
- Everything about your game stays on your device (section 4). Deleting the app deletes it.
- Ads come from Google AdMob. Google's software collects technical data to serve and measure ads (section 5). We never receive that data in a form that identifies you.
- Purchases are handled by Apple and Google (section 6). We only learn whether a purchase succeeded.
- No chat, no messages, no user content, no leaderboards. Nothing you do in the app is visible to other players.
3. Data we collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, biometric data, or anything else that tells us who you are. What does reach us comes through Google Firebase, a set of tools from Google LLC that processes the data on our behalf, and is limited to the following.
Play statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
Only after you accept the Terms of Use and this policy when you first open the app, it records how the app is played: levels started, won or abandoned and how long they took, words found and words reviewed, hints used and coins spent, rewarded ads watched, medals and diplomas earned, the daily streak, the language you chose, the tutorial, and that a purchase was delivered (never your payment details).
With these events Google collects a random app-instance identifier created when the app is installed; the device model, operating system, language and app version; the number and length of sessions; an approximate location (country, region or city) derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store; and, from the stores, the product and price of purchases.
We see this mostly as totals, for example how many players finish level 10 or which words people struggle with, and we use it to balance the levels, decide what to improve and check that a change made the app better. On Android, the app stops Analytics from reading the advertising ID. On iOS, Analytics can read the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allowed tracking in Apple's prompt. If you turn off Personalized ads in Settings, the statistics are not used to personalize ads.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, play statistics are stored only if you agree to it in the consent message the app shows before any ads (the purpose "Store and/or access information on a device"), and they are used for advertising only if you agree to that too. If you decline, Google Analytics receives only signals without identifiers, from which it can estimate totals. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy options.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
If the app crashes or runs into an error, it sends a report with the technical trace of the error, the device model, operating system, free memory and storage, screen orientation, app version, and a random installation identifier. Crash reports contain no game progress and nothing you wrote. We use them only to find and fix bugs.
Values we can adjust (Firebase Remote Config)
When it starts, the app asks Firebase for a few numbers we can adjust without an update, such as how often ads appear between levels or what a hint costs in coins. Sometimes we compare two versions of such a number, and the app is then placed in one of two groups at random. For this Firebase receives a random installation identifier, the app version, language and country.
If you write to us for support, we receive what you choose to send: your email address and the content of your message. We use it only to answer you, keep it only as long as needed to resolve your request, and then delete it. Please do not send us personal information we do not need. The app is not designed to collect sensitive personal data (such as health, religion, political opinions or sexual orientation); if any were ever sent to us inadvertently, we would delete it promptly.
4. What the app stores on your device
Everything in this section stays on your phone or tablet, in the app's own private storage. It is never transmitted to us, and there is no server it could be transmitted to. (The statistics in section 3 are separate: they describe what happens in the app, not your saved game.)
- Your progress: the levels you have completed, the words you have found and how well you remember them (which decides when a word comes back for review), your best scores and your daily streak.
- Your rewards: coins, hints, medals, diplomas and badges, and whether you bought Remove Ads.
- Your settings: sound and music switches, the language you chose, and whether you have seen the tutorial.
- Small bookkeeping values: for example, which tips the app has already shown you.
None of this identifies you. Deleting the app removes all of it, immediately and permanently. Because we keep no copy, we cannot restore lost progress for you, and progress does not transfer between devices. The Remove Ads purchase can always be restored from the store with the "Restore Purchases" button.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free to play and is supported by ads delivered by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. The app shows three kinds of ads: a small banner during play, full-screen ads between some levels, and optional rewarded ads that you choose to watch for a hint. You can stop the banner and the ads between levels by buying Remove Ads; rewarded ads remain available because you choose when to watch them.
What Google's software collects
To deliver ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance and detect fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK inside the app collects technical information and sends it directly to Google. It can include:
- Your IP address, from which an approximate location (country, region or city) can be inferred. We never receive your IP address.
- Device information: model, operating system version, language, screen size, time zone, network type.
- Information about the ads shown and how you interact with them (views, clicks, whether a rewarded ad was completed).
- Diagnostic information about the ad software, such as crashes and performance.
- Your device's advertising identifier, where the operating system makes it available (see below).
Google may use this information to show you personalized ads, based on your interests inferred across apps, or non-personalized ads, based only on the context (for example, the app you are using and your approximate location). Google processes it under its own policies, not ours. To learn more, see how Google uses data when you use its partners' sites or apps and Google's Privacy Policy.
Your choices about ads
- On iOS, the first time ads are about to be shown the app asks for permission to track you, using Apple's standard prompt. If you decline, Google does not receive your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) from the app and shows you non-personalized ads. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- On Android, you can delete or reset your advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalization, in your device settings under Google → Ads. The app then shows non-personalized ads.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, personalized ads are only shown with your consent. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your choice before loading any ads, and you can change it later from the app's settings (Settings → Privacy options).
- Everywhere, buying Remove Ads stops the banner and the ads between levels.
Choosing non-personalized ads does not remove ads: the app still needs them to stay free, but Google then serves them without using your advertising identifier for personalization.
6. Purchases
Remove Ads is an in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or receive your name, payment method, card number or account details, and we do not store any payment information. The app only learns whether a purchase succeeded, together with the product identifier, so it can turn off ads. "Restore Purchases" asks the store to send your past purchases again.
Coins and hints are virtual items with no monetary value outside the app. They cannot be exchanged for money, transferred to other players or refunded by us; refund requests for a purchase go to Apple or Google, which handle them under their own rules.
7. Third parties that receive data
Only the following companies receive data from the app, and only in the ways described above. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else for their own marketing.
| Company and service | What for | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google LLC · Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config) | Play statistics, crash reports, adjustable values; acts as our processor | Privacy and Security in Firebase |
| Google LLC · Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) | Showing and measuring ads; fraud prevention | How Google uses data from partner apps |
| Apple Inc. · App Store, In-App Purchase | Download, purchases, restore (iOS) | Apple Privacy Policy |
| Google LLC · Google Play, Play Billing | Download, purchases, restore (Android) | Google Privacy Policy |
If we ever add a service to this list, we will update this page before the change ships, and the App Store and Google Play data labels for the app will be updated to match. We may also disclose information if required by law, a court order or a public authority, or when reasonably necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others. If the app were ever transferred to another company, this policy would continue to apply to any data transferred with it, and you would be informed through this page and the stores.
8. Children
Word Search: Learning English is a general-audience educational game for people learning English. It is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, or under the age at which your country lets you consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app collects nothing that identifies any user. Ads in the app are not targeted at children.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the app: everything the app stores is on the device, so deleting the app from the device erases it completely. If you believe any information about a child has reached Google through the app, contact us at contact@dezeo.lat and we will help you, including by pointing you to Google's own tools for the advertising data described in section 5.
9. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
Where the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
| Processing | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Running the app, applying your purchases, restoring them | Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) |
| Showing non-personalized ads to keep the app free; preventing ad fraud | Our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)), balanced against your rights |
| Showing personalized ads; any use of your advertising identifier for that purpose | Your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time as described in section 5 |
| Play statistics (section 3) | Your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), given in the app's consent message and withdrawable at any time in Settings → Privacy options |
| Crash reports and adjustable values (section 3) | Our legitimate interests in keeping the app working and fixing its errors (Article 6(1)(f)); you can object as described in section 11 |
| Answering a support request | Our legitimate interest in helping you, and your request itself |
| Keeping records or disclosing data when the law requires it | Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) |
10. Where data is processed
We keep no servers of our own. The statistics and crash reports in section 3 are stored by Google on its Firebase infrastructure, and the advertising and store data described above is processed by Google and Apple on their own infrastructure, which includes servers in the United States and other countries whose laws may differ from yours. For data from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google and Apple rely on recognized transfer safeguards, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as described in their own privacy policies linked in section 7.
11. Your rights and how to use them
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a copy of it, to restrict or object to its processing, to withdraw a consent you gave, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
In practice: we hold nothing that tells us who you are. The Firebase data in section 3 is tied to a random identifier that we cannot connect to you, so we cannot pick out which records are yours; it is deleted automatically after the periods in section 12, and deleting the app stops all collection (a new install starts with a new identifier). If you object to the statistics, write to us and we will help. Everything in section 4 is on your own device and under your sole control, and deleting the app removes it. For the advertising data processed by Google, the controls in section 5 let you reset or remove your advertising identifier and switch to non-personalized ads, and Google's own tools at myaccount.google.com let you review and delete activity linked to a Google account.
You can still write to us at contact@dezeo.lat with "Privacy request" in the subject. We answer within 30 days (45 days for requests under California law), and we may ask you to confirm details so that we do not act on someone else's request. You may also use an authorized agent where your law allows it, and you can appeal our answer by replying to it. We do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland
In addition to the rights above, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority: the authority of your EU country, the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or the Swiss FDPIC.
California and other U.S. states
We do not sell personal information. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, the disclosure of an advertising identifier to Google for personalized advertising may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out of it at any time with the device controls in section 5 (declining tracking on iOS, or deleting your advertising ID on Android), after which the app shows only non-personalized ads. We do not knowingly share the personal information of anyone under 16. California residents also have the right to know what personal information is collected, used and shared, as described in sections 3 to 7. On this website, a Global Privacy Control signal turns Google Analytics off (see section 14).
Brazil
Under the LGPD, you have the rights listed above, including confirmation of processing, access, correction, anonymization or deletion, portability, and information about sharing. You may also complain to the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD).
Uruguay
Under Law 18.331, you have the rights of access, rectification, update, inclusion and deletion, and you may complain to the Unidad Reguladora y de Control de Datos Personales (URCDP).
12. Data retention
The data described in section 4 stays on your device until you delete the app. Play statistics are kept at event level for 2 months and then only as totals; crash reports are kept for 90 days. Support emails are deleted once your request is resolved, unless a law requires us to keep them longer. Advertising and store data is kept by Google and Apple according to their own retention policies.
13. Security
The app communicates with Google and Apple only over encrypted connections, and it stores nothing of yours anywhere but your device. We keep no database of our own; the Firebase data is stored by Google and can be reached only through our Google account. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, however; if we ever learned of a security incident affecting the app's users, we would publish a notice on this page and in the app's release notes, and notify the authorities where the law requires it.
14. This website
This website (dezeo.lat) uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read and which store buttons are tapped. It sets first-party cookies. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it runs only after you accept it, and it never runs if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. Google signals and advertising features are off. The details, and the place to change your choice, are on the website privacy page. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which keeps standard server access logs, including IP address and user agent, under GitHub's own privacy statement. We do not read, receive or have access to those logs. None of this happens inside the app.
15. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, for example because a new service is added, this page will be updated before the change ships, and the "last updated" date at the top will change with it. Material changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes on the App Store and Google Play. Continuing to use the app after a change means you have read the updated policy; if you disagree with it, you can stop using the app and delete it, which also deletes everything it stored.
